ANATOMY OF A WINNING TEAM

In any game, it is not the winning that matters but how you played the game. You may lose games but the accolade is always to the team that shows character and determination. What are the compositions of a winning team?

Role Playing. Each member of a team should have a definite role to play. In any basketball team there is a player that will play center. He rebounds for the ball and blocks the shooter. There is a forward who is given the license to shoot. There is a guard who brings the ball and directs the play. These players should perform their roles to the hilt, otherwise there will be disarray to the team.

The team should have teamwork. They should complement each other setting aside personal interest. Most importantly, the team should develop unity. Each should sacrifice for each other in order to win. If there is diversity in a team, there will be no teamwork.

In any undertaking, the ingredients in any team should be manifested be it a student, council, club, class or any team in any sport. Each of us has a role to play. Each of us should play team according to rules and each should be united for the victory of the team. Individualism is taboo. Let us all remember there is no “I” in the word “team.”
