One of the aims of the Millennium Development Goals is to eliminate gender disparities in primary and secondary education preferably by 2005, and all levels of education not later than 2015. Out of the 113 countries that failed to attain gender parity in primary and secondary school enrolment by the target date of 2005, only 18 are likely to achieve the goal by 2015. All are created equally and all deserved to be treated equally.

By tradition and mind-set, the Filipino males have been rendered superior than Filipino females. And this thinking was handed down unfortunately to our children. This discrimination or gender disparity in primary and secondary levels should be eradicated as this thinking dampens the desire of the female gender to contribute in nation building.
We can achieve the 3rd MDG by introducing gender related curriculum while in early school. Efforts should be focused on the training and skills for women in order for them to politically participate in all sectors of the society. Laws should be implemented so that the rights of the women will be protected especially on violence and harassment.
Our constitution does not provide special rights to the male citizens of the Philippines, and so equal opportunities should be given to all and all be treated equally.
